Christal Wood for Seattle Mayor

I’d like to formally announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of Seattle. This is not only because I believe in the solutions and affinity I hold for this city, its people, its history, and its issues; but also because of the disdain I hold for the actions and the non-actions of the person currently holding the office.

Unlike others, I’m not intimidated by Greg Nickels, I’ve run against him before, and am doing so again. The people say they want someone to fight for neighborhoods against bloated contractors and minority special interests—I will be that one. The people say they disagree with transit boondoggles and bait-and-switch municipal propositions. I agree wholeheartedly. The people say they can’t understand why they pay more and get less in education and services—together we can change that.

There are a host of other issues to address, Sound transit, the monorail, and favoritism among contractors and robber barons are apparently what Nickels considers “the Seattle Way.” It must stop. With your help it will.

The Progressive Party of Washington, as well as other community activists have endorsed this candidacy. I also make an appeal to you, whomever you are, that you participate in the election process to whatever extent you can. There have been many reasons to make one jaded about voting and whether it counts for anything--but in the end, it can’t happen without you.
